This week’s challenge was the first challenge of this season which absolutely thrilled me. I have to admit, I’ve gotten a bit bored with what I have come to call the “Rumplestiltskin” challenges. You know the ones where the designers are given a crap situation to work with and no budget at all and told “Here’s a room full of straw and a spinning wheel. You have until tomorrow morning to spin it into gold or a depraved pedophiliac gnome will come take your firstborn child. Make it work!”
I had high hopes for this challenge to be different from the moment Heidi announced that there would be a field trip involved….
According to the Project Runway website, this is our last episode til after Christmas, so we all get a two week break. Feel free to post about the previous-season marathons if you like, or pretty much anything regarding the show.
Jeremy has admin powers here, in case anything tragic or amazing happens.
I have to watch this again because Fuzzy called in the middle of it. I’m also under a deadline, and fighting a mild flu so I have zero attention span, and my plan was to go to bed as soon as this was over, but now I’m not so sure. So, I’m writing this during the repeat.
The Challenge:
Am I the only one wondering if the competing models feel kind of screwed this season? I mean, we’re five shows in, and this is the second time (I think?) we’ve had alternative models. Anyway, the official title of this episode is either What’s the Skinny? or Eye Candy depending on where you look it up, and the models are normal women who have lost significant weight (that’s SO gonna be me next year. Just watch.) The twist: their favorite pre-loss outfits are the raw materials. The good news is, the designer who annoys me most got stuck with the polyester wedding dress.
Jenn and I were online at the same time during the show, so we started chatting during the commercials. It started after Jack’s announcement and continued for the whole show. Read the rest of this entry →
Because I have cut it so close to the wire, I’m going to try to do this one in real time. Normally I’m heading to bed in this hour, so take this as a sign of love. Read the rest of this entry →
