Archangel Robriel

The Archangel Robriel’s obsessive interest in fashion began back in the late 80’s when he was adopted and raised by a roving band of Drag Queens. Once it was revealed that nobody could throw together an ensemble and lighting concept like Rob could, he was very much in demand until the unfortunate Drag Ball of ‘89 when a near death experience with an unstable Queen, a can of Aquanet and an open flame forced him to re-evaluate his involvement with any of the above.

His passion for fashion, however, survived the fire intact although he was never able to look at rayon the same way again.

Rob’s natural attraction to anything bright, colorful and/or shiny have led him to become a full fledged clothes horse and self described “label queen” with a raving boot fetish. His favorite designers and personal style skew heavily towards the Goth/ Rockstar Chic aesthetic (from which Jeffrey Sebelia drew heavily in Season Three) and his favorite colors to wear are black, black, black and black.

His fashion fantasy at this point involves being thin enough and rich enough to buy Roberto Cavalli pants while he’s still young enough not to look ridiculous in them.

Rob has been a rabid Project Runway fan since Season One, although he’s as fickle as only a Libra can be when it comes choosing favorite contestants. You’re only as good as your last design and Rob’s offended sensibilities have led him to eject many a previous Project Runway contestant from his top three due to egregious use of ruching.

When he’s not watching Project Runway, shopping or preparing to shop (or dreaming about shopping) Rob is a professional artist, writer and creative Bon Vivant who lives in the San Francisco Bay area with his partner, their daughter and three high maintenance lap dogs. All of whom have their own fabulous ensembles, naturally.
