Yes, I am cutting this under the wire
Could I be any later and get it in before the next episode? Not likely.
The Intro
Heidi looked super cute in her red dress in the intro. Sometimes, she’s so chic it hurts. And then sometimes…we’ll get to that later.
All I could think when Tiki Barber came out was OMG it’s Tiki Barber. A sidebar - my boyfriend’s little sister is head over heels in love with Tiki. Her last two Christmas presents have been Tiki related. So I’m well aware of who the man is and rather like him. She reports that he is a very nice man (she’s at his alma mater, so she’s met him).
The menswear challenge is awesome. They never do menswear, obviously, but it’s a unique and seriously difficult challenge. Adding that Tiki would be wearing the clothes made it even better. So I’m excited before they even get to the workroom.
Work Room
I was amazed at the initial cooperation. From the beginning of this season, there has been notably less tension between the contestants. I don’t know if it’s that the contestants are older on average, but the atmosphere is more professional thus far.
Despite his snarky comments, I think that
has some serious talent. He draped pants. Do you know how freakin’ hard that is? Really impressed with his technical skill.
When the models walked in, my jaw dropped. They were gorgeous. I mean, some of the female models are alright, but the men were just…gah.
…gimme a break. I understand you don’t want to shove your hands down your model’s pants, I respect that. But you won’t watch him change? I’m not saying you have to ogle him, but he’s a model, you’re a designer. There’s a professional relationship that you’re ignoring. Oye.
Ginny Barber was a surprise and a treat. Tiki did himself well as far as looks are concerned - she is heavenly…and I don’t usually find Asian women attractive.
The entire time in the work room,
’s boobs were killing me. They were sagging and her shirt was cut at a bad angle for her. It was just…ew. I can’t handle women who don’t display their assets well, I don’t care what the conditions.
I was confused with
carrying
around in a bag, and then carrying him in. Is he broken?
Really, just as a person, I dig
. I love her attitude, I love her personal style - I just want to go have a drink with her. I also like the way she thinks about the clothes she designs - she really takes into account things like how comfortable it will be and small details. I enjoy that. And anyone who can really rock bleached hair deserves applause. I’m also fond that
had his model sew - and that his model was willing! No diva attitude there.
Runway
Heidi, Heidi, Heidi…What are you wearing? You’re freakin’ Jekyll and Hyde! Just one episode I want to like both things you’re wearing.
I was really scared about this runway. We knew that menswear was totally foreign to a lot of them, but at least the men were familiar with the general construction of their own clothes. I felt for the women. I’m not going to give critiques on all the clothes because a lot of them got “Interesting” from me. So we’ll go with the best and the worst to me.
- Ew. Ew. Ew. Bad design, horrid execution.
- I love the fleece. The outfit is totally wearable, very cool.
…you hurt me. It was badly done. But it was well sewn, she just has no idea how to make men’s clothes.
- personally I like the color of the shirt, but I’m not sure how it would translate to TV. I’m impressed that he got so much done!
- Oh Jack. My darling, muscular gay man (who I have a total crush on). I love the shirt. I’d buy that shirt for men I love. And I dig the striped pant. You had me at Hello.
- The kiss of death for a designer on this show is Boring and Unfinished. His was both.

(I am so glad she’s gone. The concept was poor, the design was terrible. I’m just glad she recognized that as well.)
